Northeast District Convention

Student Keynote Speaker

One applicant is chosen each year to provide the Keynote Speech at the Opening Joint Session of NEDCon. Anyone who is interested in applying should use the application link below to submit a final draft of their 5-10 minute speech for consideration. If you are selected, you will receive a $100 stipend. If you are selected, we can work with you to make any minor necessary changes if that need arises.

The Priority Deadline to apply is February 28, 2026.

The Prompt:
Margaret Meade once said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”
Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma were built by people who believed that music, service, and leadership could change lives — and they were right. Today, you stand where their footsteps end and your own begin.

As you reflect on History in the Making, speak to the moments that awakened your sense of purpose: the times you lifted your band community, the traditions that shaped you, and the challenges that pushed you to grow. Share how your chapter’s story — and your personal journey — are part of a legacy still being written.

Most importantly, explore how the choices we make now, the service we give, the music we play, and the leadership we embody will echo forward, inspiring the brothers and sisters who will follow.

Ritual Grant Application

The recipients of the Ritual and Regalia Replacement Award will be given one replacement Ritual item to either help a chapter replace an older item, or gain a Ritual item that they previously have not had. There will be two Ritual and Regalia Replacement Awards given, one for a chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, and one for a chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  The recipients will receive $150 to put towards the ritual item(s) that are requested.  All Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma chapters of the NED are welcome and encouraged to apply for their respective awards. It will be chosen based off of need and the successful completion of the following application.

**Please be assured that Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma secrets will be kept, as only members of your specific organization will be reading your application.**

We will be contacting all applicants to keep you aware of the status of your application and whether or not you won the award. It is due to this we ask that the contact information is as up to date as possible
